The Ministry of Lands and Natural Resources has announced that it will soon publish a comprehensive list of all individuals and private firms that have acquired or applied for public lands between 2017 and 2024. The Deputy Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Yusif Sulemana, disclosed this during a press conference on Wednesday, March 11, 2026, as part of a major transparency drive in state land administration.
The initiative follows a thorough review of over 8,000 land lease applications across all sixteen regions of Ghana. The review process was initiated following a presidential directive aimed at halting irregular land transactions and restoring discipline to the management of state assets. According to the Ministry, the audit uncovered several irregularities, including allocations that failed to meet mandatory legal requirements, some of which have already been revoked.
The upcoming publication will detail both completed and uncompleted land applications, providing the public with information on the names of beneficiaries and the specific locations of the lands involved. The list will be released on a region-by-region basis, beginning with the Greater Accra Region, and will be accessible on the official websites of the Ministry and the Lands Commission.
In addition to the public disclosure, the Ministry has introduced several structural reforms to safeguard public lands. These include the standardization of the Public Land Application Form, stricter internal verification procedures, and the establishment of a Public Land Protection Task Force to prevent unauthorized developments on government property.
The Deputy Minister emphasized that public lands are held in trust for the citizens of Ghana and must be managed in the public interest. This move toward radical transparency is expected to restore public confidence in land administration and ensure that state resources are allocated through fair and lawful processes.
