The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is officially moving from the “battlefield” to the church. After a high-stakes internal election on January 31, the party has announced it will hold a National Thanksgiving Service to show gratitude for a peaceful and successful presidential primary. The event is meant to bring the party together after months of intense campaigning between the various camps.
Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, who emerged as the winner and the party’s flagbearer for the 2028 elections, is expected to lead the delegation. The primary saw the Vice President secure a significant lead, with his main rival, Kennedy Agyapong, already conceding defeat and calling for party unity. Party leadership says this service isn’t just about celebrating a win, but about healing any internal rifts that popped up during the race.

The thanksgiving service will bring together national executives, Members of Parliament, and the grassroots supporters who made the primary happen. General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong has emphasized that for the NPP to “break the eight” in the future, the party needs to stand as one. This religious gathering is seen as the first major step in rebuilding that “One NPP” vibe before the general election heat starts to rise again.
