A herbalist has been arrested in Kasoa after an attempt to smuggle escape tools to a high-profile robbery suspect in police custody was foiled. Mohammed Hamidu, 42, was apprehended by the Central East Regional Police Command on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, after officers conducted a routine search of food items meant for a remand prisoner.
The suspect reportedly arrived at the Kasoa Central Business District Police Station around 8:00 pm, carrying a loaf of bread and six bottles of carbonated drinks. The items were intended for Cephas Bubune Sisiawor, a prisoner currently on remand for robbery. However, a discovery awaited officers during the inspection: two newly acquired hacksaw blades had been carefully carved into the center of the loaf of bread.
According to the police roadmap for the investigation, the remand prisoner is believed to have orchestrated the plan to facilitate an escape from the detention facility.
