Authorities have apprehended a suspected fake military officer at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra. The individual was taken into custody after arousing suspicion among the personnel stationed at the medical facility.
The suspect reportedly claimed to have served as an active member of the Ghana Army for seven years. However, his deceptive cover was blown during a routine interaction with legitimate officers on the hospital premises.
The fake military officer was allegedly on his way to visit a nurse friend at the facility when he was intercepted. Security personnel decided to question him further regarding his unit and official identification.
During the interrogation, the fake military officer could not disclose his current rank or provide verifiable service details. This failure to answer basic military questions led to his immediate arrest and detention by the authorities.
Reports indicate that the suspect had been posing as a soldier to gain unauthorized access and social influence. The arrest of the fake military officer has raised concerns about the ease with which civilians impersonate security officials.
The Ghana Armed Forces have consistently warned the public against the illegal use of military uniforms and equipment. This fake military officer is currently assisting the police with further investigations to determine the full extent of his activities.
