Political activist Frank Kwaku Appiah, widely known as Appiah Stadium, has officially retracted derogatory comments made against former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo. The vocal supporter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) issued a formal apology via a viral video shared on social media. This sudden turnaround followed a direct intervention from President John Dramani Mahama, who reportedly reprimanded him for his conduct.
According to Appiah Stadium, the initial outburst was triggered by remarks made by the Member of Parliament for Bantama, Francis Asenso-Boakye. He claimed his derogatory statements were a reaction to allegations that President Mahama did not support the progress of the Ashanti Region. However, he admitted that his emotional reaction led him to use language that was entirely inappropriate for a public figure.
President Mahama personally contacted Appiah Stadium to express his extreme displeasure regarding the insults directed at his predecessor. The President emphasized that his followers must maintain a high level of discipline and respect toward all national leaders. Following this scolding, Appiah Stadium stated that he realized his words did not reflect the “good training” expected of an NDC activist.

In his public statement, Appiah Stadium pleaded for forgiveness from former President Akufo-Addo and the entire Ghanaian public. He expressed regret that his actions could potentially taint the reputation and political work of President Mahama. Appiah Stadium also extended his apologies to the supporters of the former President who were offended by his earlier tirade.
The activist noted that as a “father for all,” the former President deserves respect regardless of political differences. Appiah Stadium further clarified that he recorded the video to ensure the public knows he has turned a new leaf. This move is seen by many as an effort to reduce political tension as the nation moves toward a more stable governance period.
