The Western Regional Police Command has arrested the Assembly Member for Effiakuma West, Edward Azalekor, and one other suspect in connection with a viral video showing teenagers being forced to engage in sexual acts as punishment.
The suspects, Edward Azalekor, 52, and Martin Amuzu, 35 who is the uncle of the female victim were picked up on Thursday, February 26, 2026, following the circulation of the disturbing footage.
According to a police statement, the incident occurred after the 17-year-old female victim left home without her mother’s permission. Upon her return, the mother reportedly asked the Assemblyman to “discipline” her daughter.
In a shocking turn of events, the suspects allegedly lured a 13-year-old boy to a shop and forced him to have sexual intercourse with the girl while a crowd cheered, laughed, and filmed the ordeal.
“The suspects were seen forcing the two teenagers to have sexual intercourse in a shop in the full glare of others,” the police statement revealed.
The accused persons appeared before the Harbor District Court in Takoradi on Friday, February 27, where they were granted bail in the sum of GH₵ 20,000 each. They are scheduled to reappear in court on March 5, 2026.
It will be recalled that the video sparked massive outrage on social media, with many calling for the immediate prosecution of all involved in the abuse of the minors.
Indications are that the police are currently on a manhunt for a third suspect, Isaac Nana Osei, who is believed to have filmed the act and is currently on the run. The female victim has since been placed in the custody of the Department of Social Welfare for protection and counseling.
