The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) has officially announced the upcoming launch of a comprehensive Loyalty Programme designed to provide non-monetary benefits to its over 260,000 pensioners.
During a stakeholder engagement in Tamale on February 17, 2026, the Director-General of SSNIT, Mr. Kwesi Afreh Biney, revealed that the initiative will offer pensioners exclusive discounts at selected hotels, retail outlets, and partner facilities across Ghana.
This expansion of the Trust’s mandate is intended to honor the lifelong contributions of retirees by easing the cost of living through preferential market rates.
According to Mr. Afreh Biney, the Loyalty Programme is currently at an advanced operational stage, with SSNIT finalizing agreements with several high-profile hospitality and retail partners. “By simply being an SSNIT pensioner, you receive preferential rates,” the Director-General noted, describing the initiative as a way of expressing gratitude to the senior citizens.
The Trust emphasized that while these discounts fall outside the core pension disbursement mandate, they represent a significant improvement in the scheme’s overall value proposition for 2026.
In addition to the loyalty benefits, SSNIT is preparing to introduce a state-of-the-art telemedicine service for its members. This digital healthcare platform will allow pensioners to consult medical professionals remotely via phone or digital devices, significantly reducing the need for physical travel to clinics.
The telemedicine project aligns with the Trust’s broader 2026 digital transformation agenda, which recently saw the launch of a 24/7 Virtual Branch. This healthcare initiative aims to complement the existing Pensioners Medical Scheme (PMS) by providing more immediate access to medical advice.
As of February 18, 2026, pensioners in the Northern Region have already expressed satisfaction with the proposed welfare packages. The leadership of the National Pensioners Association (NPA) noted that the combination of hotel discounts and remote medical access will go a long way in improving the quality of life for retirees.
SSNIT remains committed to ensuring that its 2026 indexation and welfare policies provide a “viral” safety net for all beneficiaries.
